Hi, my name is Daniel Weatheritt and I'm an illustrator and graphic designer based in Northumberland. My fascination and love of drawing started in Primary School as a member of Northburn First School Wildlife Club where I would fill many sketchbooks with drawings of garden birds and mammals. I've always enjoyed creating characters and short stories and knew from a fairly young age that I would end up pursuing a creative career.

Growing up, I became interested in the diverse artistic styles and technical production of comics, graphic novels and picture books, which led to the study of Graphic Design at Northumbria University. I graduated in 2008 with first-class honours and shortly afterwards set up my own business as a multi-disciplined Designer / Illustrator / Artist, with the goal of establishing a unique and distinctive graphic style. I love designing for print, producing hand written typography and favour traditional working methods. My favourite drawing technique is mixed media - pen & ink, pencils, watercolours and collage, all employed in the creation of surreal characters, environments and narratives packed with intricate detail and humour.

I also run Airship Nelson - my fictional travelling art airship, planning and delivering graphic design and illustration workshops for children in schools, libraries and cultural venues across the North East.

My clients include Alnwick Playhouse, Berwick Visual Arts, Chicken Pox Fox, Creative Cocoon, Deanbridge International Ltd, Dot to Dot Active Arts, English Heritage, Fox Searchlight UK, Great North Snow Dogs, HTC, Lazy Grace, Lets Live Here, Live Theatre, Museums & Archives Northumberland, Newbiggin Maritime Centre, Northumberland County Council, Northumberland Wildlife Trust, Off the Page Drama, Seven Stories, Stephen Fry, St. Oswald's Hospice, Sunderland Live, Tynemouth Therapy Clinic, Woodhorn Museum and Xist Publishing. I was also the recipient of a Print Futures Award in 2016 for my Airship Nelson project.
